K.Narayanamenon

K.Narayanamenon of Pullut is a Kerala Artist who has achieved reputation as a competent Portrait Painter in Oil Colours and a Master of the exquisite water Colour Style through his life like, joy imparting and realistic studies of the colourful flora and fauna of Kerala.

An exceptionally gifted, hardworking, publicity shy, artist with no aim and pretensions, he was trained in the Academic and Classic styles, and took to Portrait Painting for earning his bread.

Narayanamenon’s paintings are examples of the splendid results that can be attained by adopting solid concepts and methods, and on the continuous process of confronting sensitivity with thought, feeling and poetry with reason.

What delights and fascinates those who look at Narayanamenon’s Paintings is the frankness and fluidity of the tonalities which compose his pictures, their refinement of colour, their vividness and sensitivity. Colour, Light and Shade are handled with great competence by Narayanamenon in whose works one comes across a confluence of tradition and universality.

An Artist who believes in the virtues of tradition and technique, he is not bothered any of the modern “isms” in art and goes ahead with faith in the sis canons of Indian Painting.

Extremely practical minded, like some of the eminent Kerala born Artists, Narayanamenon, who has successfully weathered many a storm, is of the considered opinion that the climate thinking and feeling about Art and Artists both in the private and public sectors in Kerala is not conducive to the development of Artists as Creative Masters who could by virtue of their work command National and International reputations.

Narayanamenon is one of those talented Kerala Painters who has achieved recognition in Painting portraits, landscapes, genre pictures and imaginative studies with equal proficiency notwithstanding heavy odds, whose professional activities enable him to make a fairly decent living. He is an Optimist and one loves the man and artist in Narayanamenon. His paintings have an instantaneous and irresistible pictorial appeal to the senses of perception and understanding of those who know and do not know the intricacies of art expression. Visually charming and aesthetically satisfying are his intimate studies of man and nature.
